A Moment With Me

wringer washing machineI saw this photo of an earlier time. I remember watching my mother washing our family’s clothes, and even being allowed to help Mom. It made me reminisce, no, hunger for a past time; a time that was simpler, and more manageable.

Anthropologists  say “the tools we use shape us”, so in choosing our next tools, we have chosen, perhaps subconsciously, this insane complexity of our modern lives.

We lament that life is complex, and even unmanageable, but just as our parents did, we are still drawn to the seduction of something easier.

How can something more complicated ever result in easy?

Perhaps, rather, we should strive for simplicity. In those earlier times there was time to savour the moment, when times were simpler. I long for a moment of being with me.

About pushinback

Back in 1993, I attended an anti-Nafta rally in Ottawa along with over 110,000 others. But despite the overwhelming opposition to NAFTA, the steamroller rolled on. It was there that I came to understand the one vital thing that I have been preaching ever since. There are so many issues, and so many fighting each issue, we are all spinning our wheels, and wasting our time, talents and energy, because each election, we give the politicians our power and so the deck is stacked against us. I said it that day and I say it with more fervency today. We all have one issue that we share, and we should all stop fighting for our own issues and losing anyways, and we should fight to achieve that one thing that we all share. We Canadians all have to fight to finally get a say between elections. We need to fight to make politicians accountable to us, the people. If there is no accountability, and the people have no say between elections, we have no Democracy. My Blog is written to teach the reader the essential knowledge of freedom and Democracy. Please read, and learn. I am one person, but I leave you my witness that one person is not powerless, only first you must first learn and then act. Let the democratic revolution begin. Kindest regards, Rob McQueen

IT’S ALREADY OBVIOUS THAT WE ARE ALL TOO VULNERABLE TO THE ELECTRICITY NETWORKS GOING DOWN. THE BEST & SIMPLE KITCHEN GADGET IS A NICE LITTLE SHARP VEGGIE KNIFE, A WELL SEASONED IRON FRYING-PAN WITH A LID, & A DECENT-SIZED DOUBLE BOILER….1. in the frying pan sear your meat on one side, turn it over, slice a potato, garlic & onion on top to steam, then lighter veggies near the end — a ONE PAN DINNER! & the well-seasoned pan can be just wiped clean! 2. While waiting for water to boil for your bed-time cocoa, in the double-boiler top place your hot-cereal bowl, add water then your cereal grains (of course water in the bottom part, too)…let stand over-nite, in the morning turn on the heat get dressed, then eat your cereal, & use the boiled water for your filtered mug of coffee! Simple, inexpensive & timely! & the dinner with 3-4 fresh veggies can be ready in less than 1/2 hour with your feet up with a glass of wine- what you may wait for pre-heated non-nutritional food in a restaurant!
