Harper’s Shady Democracy

When I was a kid, elections, and democracy was where politicians and their parties laid out their platforms, and their visions for the Nation and the people would review what was said and vote according to their decisions. Today it aint like that no more. Who hears the word platform anymore, it has been replaced by attacking your opponent, they are bad, We are the only good, is the new refrain.

And what politician has vision anymore? Who needs a vision for Canada when you have refined your conniving techniques?

It was only back at the time of Mulroney that the Free Trade Deal was offered to Canadians in an election. Yes, the opponents of free trade, the Liberals and NDP had more than 61% of the vote, but we were given the choice in an election.

Switch forward to today and Stephan Harper and his Conservatives; we had 3 elections before Stevie told us that he was negotiating with 2 parties, the Chinese and the European Union for free trade deals. And we learn that last Friday the Free Trade Deal with China was radified. Friday is a slow news day, and everyone is out making plans for the weekend, and it was made as a passing announcement.

Politics, and Democracy has had a major slide since Stevie has gone to Ottawa. What the hell are you Conservative voters thinking when you vote for Mr. Stealth? Do you not care about your Country?

Pathetically, Trudeau has the knife to do the same, to protect the interests of the 1%, and only marginally protect the interests of the rest of us smucks. Just enough to keep us and our guns off the streets. Stick a soother in the mouths of Canadians and they will all be happy.

About pushinback

Back in 1993, I attended an anti-Nafta rally in Ottawa along with over 110,000 others. But despite the overwhelming opposition to NAFTA, the steamroller rolled on. It was there that I came to understand the one vital thing that I have been preaching ever since. There are so many issues, and so many fighting each issue, we are all spinning our wheels, and wasting our time, talents and energy, because each election, we give the politicians our power and so the deck is stacked against us. I said it that day and I say it with more fervency today. We all have one issue that we share, and we should all stop fighting for our own issues and losing anyways, and we should fight to achieve that one thing that we all share. We Canadians all have to fight to finally get a say between elections. We need to fight to make politicians accountable to us, the people. If there is no accountability, and the people have no say between elections, we have no Democracy. My Blog is written to teach the reader the essential knowledge of freedom and Democracy. Please read, and learn. I am one person, but I leave you my witness that one person is not powerless, only first you must first learn and then act. Let the democratic revolution begin. Kindest regards, Rob McQueen

We’re going through the same thing over here with free trade agreements in New Zealand, and it’s our voting day today. I’m not at all happy with the free trade agreements either – they seem to benefit large companies and politicians at the expense of small companies and the general population. Not good.

I am sure it will all swing around in time, but for now I’m voting Green, and have no intention of supporting either of our major parties. Of course, our Nationals (conservative) are likely to get in again. I don’t know who is voting for them but it sure isn’t me!

Hi Lethally: Great observation. Everyone that has a 1% in their nation has the same problem, they rule and we suffer. Government is not for the people any more it is to support the Super Rich that keep them in power. Myself, I advocate voting for Independents. Only they seem beholden to the people who elected them and the people who again must vote for them in again without the propaganda machine.

I ended up voting for the Greens this time around, as none of the independents looked at all promising 😦 I’m starting to think change is in the air, it’s just a matter of the catalyst happening. We certainly need change, the systems are so crooked everywhere.
