We Want to be More Than We Are

I have this  belief that we all want to be more than we presently are, well at least those of us who haven’t  given up on life yet. We want to be better, kinder, more loving, and we mostly want to make a greater contribution in the World. Perhaps, if only a subconscious level, we measure our self-esteem on our contributing actions.
I could rhyme off the reasons of our inactions, but it will suffice me to write that as humans we fear change, despite the fact that change is constant. As a young man I came to the understanding that the only constant we have in our lives is change. We might also resist change, but change is exactly the thing that we need to navigate through the precarious and also dangerous situations that we are wont to soon pass through.  Nations are going bankrupt, finite resources are being stripped from the Earth and depleted  while at the same time the population is ever growing, it is becoming more difficult to feed our populations of a shrinking land base. Our governments have forgotten to serve the people who elected them and our democracies are slipping away.

The power to the people lays in the knowledge that if we decide on the change we are still in control, in our own lives and collectively.

Following down the rabbit hole, it is unity that we lack, and unity, consistency, and determination of spirit will weather the blackened billowing storm ahead. No one person can do it alone, and it is time that we stop looking for that one hero to save us. There may be a few born leaders but they are not generally the ones seeking for public office. We look at our political leaders and only find disappointment in our feeling toward them.

The leaders that we need are the unassuming humble people that are natural leaders that we already rub shoulders with, and whom do not see the leadership qualities in themselves. Everyone around them will know them by recognizing that they are the individuals that people go to get things done, those that bring people together to accomplish tasks. Only going down the road of this  change and challenge will help us to recognize them. If we are looking for them, don’t be disappointed if those special ones don’t have to have all the answers. It is more likely that the leaders will need to take us through the before they will see our collective ideas, and they will take our ideas, added to their own, and then  they will help us to mobilize to action. It will be our collective ideas that be the solution. Their creative genius will be to know how all the ideas work together as a whole.

In the words of the “Yellow Submarine”, “everyone of us is all we need”. We all have a right and a need to be needed and to grow to be more than we are today. All of us need to have confidence in knowing that all our ideas are important. Even the incorrect ideas might be the one that leads us to the right question to be asked.
The many ideas of the many will be drawn together and tied into a bundle of knowledge which will find its tipping point and become a paradigm philosophical shift and our natural leaders, if we chose to follow, will lead us to change.

To be of good hope, I believe that the solutions to our big problems are already with us, held by ordinary people that the media and our governments don’t think are important enough to seek out, listen to, or acknowledge. The solutions are only short steps forward in collaboration and toward our change.

It is my considered belief that this road to change lays on the path of building communities and the ties they nurture. And if we take that journey we will grow with little effort, as one experiential principle step will lead us to healing. Like breathing, we take one breath, another, and another, and although we forget about the breaths we have taken, we live on and grow. It will be the same with our footsteps. Does a child know it is growing? But it does. Only in looking back, after time, can we see how much we have changed and grown. Believe, act, and teach these things to others, and we will grow far.

About pushinback

Back in 1993, I attended an anti-Nafta rally in Ottawa along with over 110,000 others. But despite the overwhelming opposition to NAFTA, the steamroller rolled on. It was there that I came to understand the one vital thing that I have been preaching ever since. There are so many issues, and so many fighting each issue, we are all spinning our wheels, and wasting our time, talents and energy, because each election, we give the politicians our power and so the deck is stacked against us. I said it that day and I say it with more fervency today. We all have one issue that we share, and we should all stop fighting for our own issues and losing anyways, and we should fight to achieve that one thing that we all share. We Canadians all have to fight to finally get a say between elections. We need to fight to make politicians accountable to us, the people. If there is no accountability, and the people have no say between elections, we have no Democracy. My Blog is written to teach the reader the essential knowledge of freedom and Democracy. Please read, and learn. I am one person, but I leave you my witness that one person is not powerless, only first you must first learn and then act. Let the democratic revolution begin. Kindest regards, Rob McQueen
